Trial and error is key

Designing an intuitive and seamless ecosystem for a video game platform like Codyfight is no easy task. The difficulty ramps up, especially when we combine blockchain technology, NFT, and video games into one package. As a result, we have been (and will continue) meticulously testing different options to find out what suits the game best.

It is worth knowing that NFT is still in its infancy stage with lots of uncertainty between the potential practical applications (e.g., movie tickets, video games) and questionable real-life examples so far (e.g., spending millions for an NFT image).

Codyfight fits right in the first half of the spectrum, the emerging NFT gaming space. In addition, we believe Codyfight can significantly benefit many people as opposed to a small subset of users (e.g., crypto investors). With all the factors above, we will show you how we are making the Codyfight Universe works as seamlessly as possible.

The Codyfight Universe

The chart might look confusing at first glance (believe it or not, the technology behind it is that complicated), but let’s break it down bit by bit. There are:

  • Two interactive spaces: The Arena and the Marketplace.
  • Three involved parties: Sellers, buyers, and Codyfight (it’s us :) )
  • Utility token: CTOK

Simply put, the Arena is where you (or your robots) fight. And the Marketplace is where you can buy or sell everything. The Sellers include artists who create NFT skins for robots and developers who make AI bots. Buyers should consist of the players and investors. CTOK will be the universal currency for all parties and used in all transactions.

We will elaborate more from the viewpoint of the two environments and how entities in Codyfight relate with them in the following sections.

The Arena

A core environment is the Arena. The Arena is where the majority of actions take place within the game. To enter a match, a player has to buy a CTicket and an active Robot (CKey + non-demolished NFT skin).

What are CTickets and Robots?

Imagine purchasing a ticket to your favorite football match or a ticket to a movie night. That is essentially how the CTickets work, a ticket to participate in the Codyfight Arena. Each CTicket should grant you entrance to Codyfight Arena once.

In addition, to participate in Codyfight Arena, players need fully operable, battle-ready Robots. In particular, each fully functional robot requires a combination of two primary components: NFT Skin and CKey

NFT Skin acts as a robot’s chassis and exterior, or it can contain cosmetic value if you will. CKey works similar to a car’s key, which means it can turn the Robots on and make them accept any orders, either from human players or AI bots.

For more details, please refer to our previous article or the whitepaper.

How are the parties involved here?

Codyfight will be the primary vendor from whom you can purchase NFT Skin and CKey. At the same time, you can also buy NFT Skins from Community artists. More on that in the Marketplace section below.

In Codyfight battles, you, the player, or players’ robots, will directly interact with the game environment. Your fully autonomous robots can be considered a party, too. In particular, players do not necessarily have to control the robots manually. Instead, Codyfighters can put an AI script in the robots, watch them fight while having a cup of tea (or go to sleep).

What do we get from participating in the Arena?

The game-winner gets a prize from the prize pool (2 x CTicket value), while a minor percentage goes to Codyfight to sustain the ecosystem.

The Marketplace

The second environment is the Marketplace. We have published a detailed article about Codyfight’s Marketplace and its integration with NFTs (click here). However, this article will give a brief rundown with a slightly different approach.

What is the Marketplace?

The Codyfight Marketplace is where you can find all the necessities you need for battles, including NFT Skins and AI bots. Just make sure to bring some Codyfight Tokens (CTOK) since you might easily find an attractive deal that others may claim in advance.

How are the parties involved here?

Buyers and sellers will be the main focus here. Buyers should include all players who need a new NFT Skin or advanced AI bots to level up their gameplay; investors who take an interest in the beauty of trading.

On the other hand, sellers consist of community artists, bots developers, and us, the Codyfight team.

Community artists can easily earn passive income by listing their skin submissions and waiting to be accepted. Each accepted and listed Skin on the Community NFT Skin shop will reward artists with CTOK — a sales revenue percentage. The same goes for AI bots developers, though it is not our responsibility to check whether the code will work or not.

Implication

Theoretically, in the Codyfight Universe, the role of the Arena, the Marketplace, the players, and content creators should complement each other nicely. The driving force is the Arena where competitive matches decide who’s the better player and give rewards accordingly.

The competition will sustain the demand and supply side of Codyfight, with content creators providing NFT Skins and AI bots while players seek advanced AI bots for their advantage. And finally, we have the CTOK running as Codyfight’s pipeline. CTOK token’s mission is to connect all the dots: Items purchase, trading, investing, governance, and rewards.
