There are two crucial elements in helping a video game succeed as an eSport: enjoyability and balance. Enjoyability attracts players; hence a game with dull mechanics and replayability will suffer. On the other hand, game balance is vital because otherwise, the game becomes uninteresting.
If you’ve reached the stage where you’re frequently winning in ranked play, there’s a good chance you’re ready to make the step up. This is a breaking point since different games will have different eSport competitive modes. For example, Fortnite’s in-game tournament system is extensive and relatively simple to enter.
In Codyfight, players can enjoy a few casual matches, but a competitive experience will sometimes take the spotlight and provide much entertainment. This article will show you how Codyfight can achieve a balanced competitive gaming journey.
Competitive gaming at its finest
Competitive Arena
Codyfight Arena (game mode no. 3) features a dynamic ranking system with rewards depending on the robot rank. Players have to constantly learn and understand new map tiles and behaviors in Special Agents to develop the necessary skills to play and build adaptive AI robots. Each arena match costs 1 CTicket or 1 Daily Ticket to enter.
Robot Rank
Codyfight has a super-dynamic ranking system. A robot’s rank should always reflect its actual (current) skills and performance. Only those who can adapt to the constant change in AI performance and pressure can make it to the top.
There are a total of 11 [0–10] robot ranks and six positions in Codyfight Arena. Players have to win a specific number of matches out of the whole. The more you advance in the robot ranks, the harder it becomes to progress. On the flipside, beginners can rank up much faster than veterans.
Events and tournaments for all
To attract large crowds of people and positively impact the community, Codyfight organizes special events. Players participating in these events will compete for significantly greater prizes than usual in the Arena.
Championships
Shortly after the new game modes launch, the community tournaments will take place and Codyfight will prepare for the first AI vs. human world cup!
Public holiday events
Christmas, New year, Halloween, and many more recurring events with added or removed specific Special Agents, altered playfields, and more will result in an intertwined metagame!
Mini-games
There are many different mini-games planned for players to inspire community engagement. Some mini-games might even be distributed outside the game, so stay tuned!
Community Tournaments
A community tournament is an event that emphasizes the principles of decentralization. For organizers, Codyfight provides a very flexible tournament planning tool that involves various gameplay customizations to make it community-balanced.
This feature will allow community leaders or casual players to organize and set up their games inside Codyfight while getting a cut from the prize pool (accumulated by the participants).
Mountains of rewards
Participating in Community Tournaments, holiday events, mini-games will always be rewarding. Players can quickly obtain NFT drops, Codyfight Token (CTOK) rewards, and free additional permanent CKeys, and more.
Metagame
“Ten percent luck, twenty percent skill”
Competitive Codyfight arena delivers opportunities to play using multiple different strategies depending on circumstances such as the game mode, current rank, possible Special Agents and map tiles sets, and the currently popular approach. These factors dictate the metagame’s variability, making it tough to predict the best or most optimal strategy.
The codyfight development team takes this into account and will control the metagame by releasing new Special Agents, map tiles, special abilities for players, and so on. These will be the main tools to keep the metagame strategies in balance at all times.
Become a true strategist
Players will also be able to affect the metagame by choosing strategies according to their preference, for example:
- Always picking the obvious choice — going to the exit for easy points.
- Not seeking to win but spending more time playing a single match to increase the chances of encountering the Special Agent Llama for greater rewards.
- Blocking the opponent from reaching the exit and seeking to cage Mr. Ryo.
- More to come by the time — which is up to players to find out!
The best Robots require the most flexible mind
The ultimate goal for any player is to develop a highly adaptive AI robot that can learn new Special Agents and tiles behaviors with minimal developer interference. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the enemies will make the same move twice in a row; therefore, stagnation is discouraged, and adaptation is necessary.

In Codyfight, you will never know your opponent beforehand. It is the experience that will prepare you for higher game progression. The more you play, the more opponents you will encounter, thus making it possible to create incredibly adaptive Robots. In the end, it is the players who control the tide of the wits and mental battles.
